It happened after I reassigned an equipment module to one controller to the other. I ran into some problems, I deleted the module from the old controller and then tried to download it to the new controller (from DeltaV Explorer). I solved it by downloading the module from Control Studio.

I would say that the cause had something to do with linked composites: some of the composites which were on the old controller were not downloaded to the new controller before downloading the equipment module, so it did not find their definitions and the download failed.

So, basically I am still not sure about the cause but the solution seems to be to download the faulty module from control studio.

Istvan

Forum Post: RE: Water density calculation given pressure and temperature.

I don’t know the application that spawned the original request, but happened on the same need for water density, recently. It was a waste heat steam generator application and we had to provide 3 element steam drum level control. There is more than one way to configure this, of course, but we were essentially using feed forward to the level controller PID loop effectively ratioing boiler feedwater volumetric flow (GPM) to produced steam mass flow (KPPH). We had to provide a feed forward gain and it depends on the density of the boiler feedwater. In our case the temperature doesn’t vary enough to warrant dynamically updating the FF gain, but in some applications it might.

Regards,

Lou Heavner

Lou Heavner | Consultant, Industry Solutions

Emerson Process Management | 1100 W. In the DeltaV control system, this information is provided using a robustness plot that shows gain margin and phase margin as illustrated below.
