An OPC server is also available at 250 tags on the Pro Plus, but can be increased to 500 OPC tags with the EXCEL ADDIN license.

3. Yes, for 2 or more years. Disk space is your limiting factor. The DeltaV Historian supports long term data storage and PHV provides the tools to quickly view data back in time. As explained in some of these other threads, you need to move active datasets to extended Data sets, and then it is simply a matter of Hard Disk space. DeltaV Continuous Historian uses compression to optimize data storage, so that large time spans can be stored with minimal disk resources. This is a major feature of DeltaV over some of our competitors. Note that if a user prefers to use PI Enterprise, DeltaV PHV can access data stored in PI, provided the PI tags match the DeltaV hitorical parameter tags.

4. Yes, and it is very easy. PHV supports command line parameters to allow it to be launched in context, and some of these deal with start and end times. PHV also provides easy scrolling in time. Data access of back in time data is very fast.

5 Youssef covered this well. The DeltaV Continous Historian comes with a single user OPCHDA server. This allows one client application at a time. If concurrent access is needed (say an Enterprise scanner and a user client application) then you will need to add OPCHDA clients to the Historian. The Excel Add in for historical data does not use the OPCHDA server, so access is allowed while the OPCHDA server is connected to a scanner.

The History Analysis Webserver allows access to both the Event CHronicle and Continuous Historian, as well as the Batch Historian (if present) to allow historical data analysys, and this also provides tools for exporting history data to Excel. This is intended primarily for data analysis, and remote access via the web service for secure connections through the enterprise firewalls.

Blog Post: The Benefits of FDI Technology

The ISA104 Device Integration committee was established to develop or adopt, and to facilitate the application of standards and technical reports that represent device and interface descriptions for access of field devices in automation systems. When FHX treatment to XML, these items are treated as abnormalities and resulted in replacement of the symbols (a triangle) and documented comments with binary values encountered.

These data must be manual processing (if they are interesting).

Thank you for this previous link about conversion, but sending confidential industrial configuration to the net is risky and is not suitable for large files such as a full DB that can be up to several hundred of Mb.

I test my converter with full DB export FHX file up to 218 Mb (near 15 minutes treatment).

When processing large files, we sometimes feel that the tool is fixed (stall) and seems to bug, but to avoid consuming too much memory, it processes with smallest data packets as possible, but it is sometimes necessary to grow its buffer to retrieve very large indivisible sequences, giving the impression of not advancing, but I've never had a crash.

Finally, about Emerson conversion tools provided (with no result waranty) in the deltav/bin folder, I have never generate a valid XML file with it (truncated datas, no information about successfull or abnormal completition and so on)

Forum Post: RE: Delta-V Application Station Error

Thanks for the research. Clearly, I was shooting from the hip.

Forum Post: RE: Delta-V 7.2 OPC Server

Yes, providing you don’t exceed the OPC point count for the application station. Pi would be another client to the DeltaV OPC server just as OPC Mirror is a client.

From: Waqas Ahmad [mailto:bounce-Waqas_Ahmad@community.emerson.com]
Sent: Wednesday, June 05, 2013 6:01 PM
To: DeltaV@community.emerson.com
Subject: [EE365 DeltaV Track] Delta-V 7.2 OPC Server

Using one Application Station in Delta-V V-7.2, Is it possible to integrate PI Enterprise to read data from DeltaV OPC Server and at the same time DeltaV OPC Server reading data from third party OPC server like HIMA OPC using OPC Mirroe.
